From the Canyon area I headed west to the Norris Geyser Basin and took the walking tour. Just missed seeing one of the major geysers that they can predict. It started raining around 3:30 p.m. or so - fun walking in the rain <grin>.

Tuesday, August 12, 1997
Back into the Park to Madison Junction - saw an elk with a BIG rack - then south toward Old Faithful. Drove the Firehole Canyon Road - saw a nice waterfall and cascade.
Next was the Lower Geyser Basin where I took the walking tour. Each of the basins had a guide booklet available for 25 cents that helped. Nearby was the Firehole Lake road loop with several geysers and pools. Saw one of the small ones go off and another major one just sort of fizzled this time.

The people crowd really got bad by noon. Couldn't even find proper places to park sometimes. Lots of Japanese, some German, others unknown. Continued south to the Midway Geyser Basin, Biscuit Geyser Basin and Black Sand Geyser Basin.
