Sierra Nevada - Sequoia National Park - Sherman Pass Area

On June 15, 1975 I took a two mile round trip day hike to the top of Peak 9,922 thinking it was Sherman Peak but it was 3 miles southeast of Sherman.

I drove up the Sherman Pass road at night arriving about 10:30 p.m. at Sherman Pass. The road went further than it did the last time I was up here several years ago. It now goes a mile beyond Sherman Pass. In another year or two it will probably connect all the way through to Kennedy Meadows.

The road now provides good access to the upper areas of the southern Sierra north of Domeland Wilderness. The road may be closed to the public during July and August - maybe later, as they continue to work on it.
