On September 24, 1978 I set out on a 12 mile round trip day hike. I left Lone Pine about 7:45 a.m. and drove to Whitney Portal. Hiked the trail to Consultation Lake and Trail Camp arriving about noon. Headed back about 1 p.m. and made car about 4 p.m. Beautiful day - nice hike.
