On July 20, 1980 I took a five mile round trip day hike to Lone Pine Lake in the John Muir wilderness. I hit the trail from Whitney Portal to Lone Pine Lake on a beautiful day with nice temperatues and a breeze. No mosquitoes (maybe one or two). Few people at the lake. Enjoyed a nap in the sun.
