On May 5, 1984 Scott Morton and I climbed 12,900' Cirque Peak on a nine mile hike but I didn't keep a diary log. I had previously climbed this peak with Ralph Nikolaus on my 44th birthday August 22, 1976. See that trip here.
The route starts at the Horseshoe Meadow roadhead on the Cottonwood Pass trail in the Golden Trout Wilderness to the last switchback, then cuts cross country up the easy slopes to Peak 12,336 and into the John Muir Wilderness, then peak 12,480+, and finally Cirque Peak.
