HAPPY 65th BIRTHDAY

Continued north on MT 83 to Columbia Falls, MT, then east on US 2 to West Glacier, MT, then into Glacier National Park.

More Glacier National Park information and pictures.

Checked out the Apgar Visitor Center at the south end of McDonald Lake, then drove the "inside" North Fork Road to Kintla Lake not too far from the Canadian border.

Several large meadows along the way were named Lone Pine Prairie, Big Prairie and Round Prairie.

Parts of this area have been changed over time by three major forest fires - the last in 1983.

Backtracked to Polebridge Junction and then drove to Bowman Lake and its campground for the night.

Both lakes are fairly large and long with forested shores.

No motor boats on Kintla Lake and nothing over 10 HP on Bowman.

Saw some deer in the Bowman Lake Campground.

Except for the rather impressive peaks at the east ends of the lakes, this area is mostly rolling forest - not too exciting.
